Families matter

Assisting people in the pursuit of better lives

The United Way believes strong families are teh foundation of a thriving community.  Families confront real problems everyday; employment, housing and parenting.  When these problems get out of control, a family is in danger of breaking apart.  The United Way provides opportunities for families to overcome these cycles.

A Chance to Make It

Many families are working, but can't get ahead.  The United Way is helping pursue their dreams through education initiatives, financial skills training and home ownership classes.  These asset-building opportunities help participants earn a living wage, become financially stable and take greater control of their lives.

Ready to Succeed

Children can't wait to start learning.  Parents h ave to get involved in their children's learning from day one.  Families First, a community partnership supported by United Way, helps families with young children succeed. The United Way also supports early learning centers and in-home parenting support.

Building Neighborhoods

The United Way supports resident leaders as they actively take responsibility for their community, and recruit neighbors to join in.  When residents work together to improve their neighborhood, bonds are built that foster cultural and social understanding.
