A Safety Net Matters
Making sure a temporary crisis doesn't become permanent
Life's critical moments cannot always be planned for. Disasters strike without warning. Economic conditions change overnight. But the United Way is supporting programs that deliver assistance when it is needed most.

Disaster Preparations
Through on-going training and education, volunteers are equipped to effectively deal with emergency situations when they occur. The resources exist so that people who experience disasters have access to immediate, safe environments in order to regain stable, safe lives.
Emergency Food & Shelter
People in crisis who are at risk of losing their current level of independence should be able to maintain self-sufficiency. Resources are available to help people:
- Secure sufficient food for their family
- Access emergency rent and utility assistance
- Obtain a hot meal
- Get emergency housing to escape domestic violence
- Receive information about crisis assistance services
Legal Advocacy
Often, the most vulnerable members of our community (children, seniors, new citizens) are most at-risk of being taken advantage of. The United Way is committed to protecting the legal rights of these community members by providing consistent access to legal counsel.
