9/8/2010Tough Choices: How to Make Strategic Program Decisions
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Location: Girl Scout Leadership and Learning Center

Cost: $30 

The workshop will focus on the use of evaluation logic and program data to guide decisions about program effectiveness and viability. Specific tools and concepts will be introduced that can help nonprofits make program decisions that are systematic, consistent, and intentional.
 
The base tool used in the workshop is the MacMillan Matrix©. Part I will focus on two of the key aspects of the Matrix, fit and competitive position. Utilizing the information gathered in Part I, participants will then complete the MacMillan Matrix.
 
As a result of this process, organizations will be able to:

  • prioritize specific programs based on their overall value to the organization
  • identify areas of potential refinement or consolidation of programs
  • make program decisions that do not compromise mission.

10/5/2010Applying Bridges Out of Poverty
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm. Location: First Presbyterian Church - McKay Hall, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne

Cost: $40

This workshop is an extension of the Bridges Out of Poverty seminar.  In this workshop participants will learn more about language experience, cognitive issues, and barriers to change. Participants will learn how to use mental models to communicate effectively, and to assist clients from poverty to learn quickly, explore options, and develop future stories.

Participants will also explore the skills of mediation, relationship building, and mentoring. This workshop introduces strategies for changing program designs, policies, and procedures to improve outcomes. Participants will use case studies and an examination of the client's lifecycle to identify principles of change. 
 
PREREQUISITE: BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY WORKSHOP.  You meet this requirement if you participated in the workshop through the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network in Fort Wayne on May 4, 2010, OR if you have taken any other Bridges Out of Poverty full day workshop.
