United Way Helps Stamp Out Hunger 2016

The Stamp Out Hunger Letter Carriers Food Drive completed a successful drive in 2016, raising 53,962 pounds of food for Elkhart County food pantries. The total is a 19.4% increase from 2015. More than 300 volunteers across the county partnered with letter carriers to collect, sort and shelve non-perishable food donations.  Despite the weather, you gave from your heart and that's all we could ever ask. Well done and thank you Elkhart County!

There is Hope for Everyone

“Is there hope for me?”
Donna spent her career as a nurse caring for others. However, life had not treated her with the same kindness. Donna witnessed the death of her husband and three of her seven children. Two of her daughters lost their lives to the same disease that was now plaguing Donna... cancer. One daughter left Donna to care for her 14 year old daughter, Alizee.

Statement from Brian A. Gallagher, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide

The academic success of children in later years depends heavily upon their kindergarten readiness. The first few years of education and preparedness are the most crucial to establishing a solid foundation from which children can adapt to school systems and learn successfully. During this period, children develop primary skills that form the foundations of reading, counting, and social interaction.
