Stamping Out Hunger
May 14 2008
Elkhart, IN- United Way of Elkhart County partnered with Martin’s Super Market, The Elkhart Truth, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the USPS and the United Labor Agency on May 10th, 2008 for the 16th Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Through the kind donation of shopping bags from Martin’s Super Market, over 35,000 people received special bags for the event.
Through a committee of volunteers, marketing and promotional materials were distributed to area churches, in area schools, at the local post offices and through the Elkhart Truth. The coordination of events has yielded a reported 80,000 lbs of food which will be distributed to local food pantries.
The United Way would like to congratulate and thank everyone who helped make this food drive so successful. For more information contact Darren Bickel at the United Way.
